The backlash from Brett Kavanaugh’s failed smear job will haunt the Democrats for years to come and they should be ashamed.
They never had the votes to stop Kavanaugh and they had a very slim chance to win the Senate – the map was historically bad for them.
So they ruined Brett’s reputation – and they did a number on poor Mrs. Ford who had her life ruined when the Democrats outed her in their efforts.
Not only did Trump get to pick two Supreme Court judges but he is also getting through a significant amount of important judges on the other levels.
The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit is often called the second most powerful court in the land and for good reason.
They decide many of the key constitutional issues that truly define our system and for that reason, many Supreme Court judges come from there.
Trump stunned the Democrats with his pick to replace Kavanaugh – a minority and a woman. From The Washington Times:
President Trump is nominating Neomi Rao, head of the White House regulatory affairs office, to the influential federal Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Ms. Rao is administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs within the White House Office of Management and Budget. In that post, she has worked to carry out the president’s efforts at reducing regulatory burdens.
She has clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
During the second term of President George W. Bush, Ms. Rao worked in the White House counsel’s office. She later became a tenured professor at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.
But what really made the left furious is what Rao was doing when she worked for Trump – she was in charge of cutting all those regulations the left holds dear. From Fox News:
President Trump announced Tuesday he will nominate Neomi Rao, who has spearheaded his administration’s effort to cut down and reform federal regulations as head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, to take the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals seat vacated by new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Trump, speaking at a White House event marking Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, indicated that a formal announcement is slated for Wednesday, but said that tipping his hand early “gives me a big story.”
“We were going to announce that tomorrow and I said you know, here we are Neomi — we’re never gonna do better than this. I thought it was an appropriate place,” Trump said, as attendees at the ceremony clapped and Rao smiled.
“I won’t say today that I just nominated Neomi to be on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the seat of Justice Brett Kavanaugh,” Trump continued. “She’s going to be fantastic — great person.”
The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is considered the second most important U.S. federal court, after the U.S. Supreme Court, because it has jurisdiction over disputes concerning federal regulations and other actions taken by major government agencies.
