Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis held a press briefing today with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford at the Pentagon.
The two men were briefing reporters on Department of Defense news including the suspension of military exercises in South Korea, privatization of the war in Afghanistan, and the United States Space Force.
Democrats have been eager to jump all over President Trump for his creation of the space force to protect us from possible enemies outside our atmosphere, despite not fully understanding it.
Jim Mattis had some terse words for them today and schooled everyone who doubts President Trump’s idea of a space force.
“We need to address space as a developing war fighting domain and a combatant command is certainly one thing that we can we can establish. This is a process we’re in.”
He is right. If we don’t keep ahead of the rapidly changing environment then we could set ourselves up to be unprotected when we need it.
The next thing Mattis said will infuriate Democrats.
“We are in complete alignment with the president’s concern about protecting our assets in space to contribute to our security to our economy and we’re going to have to address it as other countries show a capability to attack those assets.”
